20 More Exciting Summer Events Near Workhaus in Toronto

For those of us who love attending unique and exciting summer events, there’s no better palace to be than Toronto. For Workhaus members at any of our 9 locations throughout Toronto, getting around couldn’t be easier. We’re just steps away from a fantastic array of events, some of which we shared with you last month. Many of those events are still on, like farmer’s markets and summer movie series. Meanwhile, over the course of July, August and September, many new events are kicking off! To make it easy for you to stay on top of what’s happening nearby, here’s a fresh collection of the best summer events near Workhaus.

Iconic Toronto Events in July, August and September:

• Toronto Blue Jays 49th Season. Toronto’s home team is having their best season in years, so there’s no better time to catch a game at the Rogers Centre!
• Union Summer. Back for its eighth year, TD Union Summer is transforming Toronto’s largest transit hub into an event space like no other. From June 25th to August 10th, checkout this event with live music, and local food and vendors. And don’t miss the delicious drinks on the Front Street pop-up patio!
• Caribana Toronto Festival. From July 31st to August 4th North America’s largest Caribbean Carnival event returns with day and night events all weekend. Don’t miss the grand carnival parade on August 2nd! 
• Canadian National Exhibition. The Ex is back in town from August 15 to September 1. Looking forward to rides and food like nowhere else, a bandshell lineup of incredible Canadian musicians, and more fun just waiting to be discovered? This August, a 15 minute ride from Union Station will bring you straight to Canada’s largest annual community event!
• TIFF 50. Celebrating its 50th anniversary this year, Canada’s largest and best recognized film festival will run from September 4th to 14th. This is your chance to see all the newest movies, visit some of Toronto’s finest theatres, and maybe even spot a star or two!

• Toronto Summer Music’s 2025 Festival. From July 10th to August 2nd, 2025, immerse yourself in world-class classical music performances at beautiful event venues around UofT.
• TU Jazz Fest. From August 29th to September 1st, Canada’s biggest jazz event for emerging artists takes over Mel Lastman Square for its 11th year. 

Cultural Events & Celebrations All Summer Long:

• Melanin Market. On select Wednesdays and Fridays between June 23rd and August 29th, Sankofa Square will host this exciting five-part black-owned market event series.
• Aloha Fest. Saturday, July 26th, Mel Lastman square will light up with Aloha spirit at this event celebrating of Polynesian culture and hula.
• Himalayan Festival. On August 9th discover and celebrate the rich culture of Canada’s Nepalese community with this empowering afternoon festival at Nathan Phillips Square.
• India Day Festival and Grand Parade. On August 17th, experience the vibrant cultural, linguistic, and artistic diversity of India at this special event in Nathan Phillips Square.
• Mabuhay Philippines Day Festival. With food, drinks, games, and performances, this celebration of Filipino heritage and culture is set to transform Nathan Phillips Square on August 23-24th.
• Toronto Dragon Festival. Spend the Labour Day week celebrating Chinese traditional culture at the Toronto Dragon Festival. This event will have something for everyone, with live lion and dragon dancing, a fashion show, ample street food options, and beyond.
• Trinbago Festival. Discover the music, food, and dance styles of Trinidad and Tobago, September 5th to 7th. This late-summer event hosts dozens of local Caribbean artists for unforgettable performances at Nathan Phillips Square.

August & September Food Events:

• Taco Fest 2025 – August 8th to 10th, one of Toronto’s tastiest events takes over Fort York for the weekend. With 45 vendors and 250 types of tacos, this is sure to be a taco lover’s dream!
• Smoke’s World Poutine Eating Championship – Local favourite Smoke’s Poutine will host their annual poutine eating championship in downtown Toronto. Last year’s winner ate 20.5lbs of poutine in just 10 minutes. Need to see it to believe it? Swing by Sankofa Square on September 6th for this one of a kind event!
• VegTO Fest – North America’s largest vegan festival is set to return to Nathan Phillips Square. This event, slated for September 20th and 21st, is your opportunity to explore all things vegan. 

Networking and Educational Events This Summer and Beyond: 

• LW15 with Supabase and TorontoStarts. Come hang out, meet some awesome people, and chat about all things tech and innovation. Whether you’re a seasoned pro or just curious, everyone’s welcome to join this fun July 2nd event, hosted at Workhaus, 180 Dundas St W.
• Webinars by Toronto Small Business Enterprise Centre. All summer long Toronto Small Business Enterprise Centre is hosting free webinars. With different topics each week, this online event series will help you learn about all aspects of running a successful small business.
• Small Business Forum. The summer may end in September, but Toronto’s events and opportunities keep going! Toronto’s premier small business event is back for it’s 3rd year in a row on October 29, 2025, 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. This year’s theme is “Small Business, Big World” and it’s one that you won’t want to miss!
