Our brand new Kitchener-Waterloo location has been one busy bee over the past couple of weeks. After the overwhelming success of our Haus Warming event earlier this month, word has been spreading about Workhaus and our community-first approach to coworking. Workhaus Market is quickly becoming an excellent hub for entrepreneurs and teams alike that are setting up shop or expanding in Downtown Kitchener.
Recently, Market hosted the Hackernest KW monthly tech social and what an event it was! Founded back in 2011, HackerNest is a not-for-profit global organization that brings the tech community together. They use social and community events to break down barriers, as HackerNest prefers a more relaxed and intimate environment to further its mission of economic development through technological advancements.
Those working within the local KW tech ecosystem have the flexibility to attend their free events and engage with like minded people in a relaxed, no-strings attached social environment to discuss work, interests, or perhaps even potential job opportunities.
Adam, Director of Kitchener-Waterloo, had the pleasure of acting as the “host” as he welcomed approximately 150 people as not only an introduction to the KW tech scene, but as an introduction to the Workhaus community as well. While breaking his “no standing on the tables” rule, Adam explained the relevance of coworking to the local tech community and how we fit into HackerNest’s overarching goal of building a unique community that offers an engaging and collaborative environment.
Of course, this event wouldn’t have the same without help from our friends at Red Circle Brewing, who provided the suds for the evening, and Ares Pizza & Wings (did you know the best pizza in town is just across the street from Market?) who kindly provided tasty pizza to our guests.
Workhaus is proud to work with community-focused organizations such as HackerNest. We also need to extend a big thank you to HackerNest’s amazing leadership team and incredible volunteers who went above and beyond throughout the evening to not only ensure everyone had a great time but to help keep our space clean.
Thank you HackerNest and to everyone who came out! We hope to see you within our spaces again soon.
