The Stackt Market, located in Toronto at Bathurst and Fort York, has finally opened its doors to the public, and just in time for that warm weather (fingers crossed!). The anticipation for this pop-up market of shipping containers has never been so high. News first broke about the Stackt Market back in 2017, outlining that the space would be filled with approximately 120 containers filled with a variety of vendors. Browse through a brewery, temporary tattoo shop, vegan donuts and vintage shopping to name a few. It seems as though this market has a little something for everyone.

An intriguing aspect of Stackt is that they can consistently switch their vendors around, giving tenants the option to rent from as little as two days, all the way to the full 18 months. The flexibility of the rental agreements will introduce new and interesting retailers to the public that usually avoid store fronts due to long lease agreements. So, if you’re interested in one of their shops, we recommend sooner rather than later!

The complex comes complete with an outdoor space for shoppers to eat, drink and relax in, which is perfect for all the events set to take place. Flow will be hosting weekly yoga classes in the morning to get the body pumping. Not your scene? No problem, they slow things down a bit with outdoor movie screenings like John Wick: Chapter 2. Stackt hasn’t forgotten about your fur babies either, as they have events for your dog with free pawtrait sessions to hang the portraits on your wall. For those interested in more intimate events, Chef Amanda Cohen will be hosting a night to remember full of food and conversation.

With excitement rising over this market, it brings up the question on the future of real estate, and how coworking fits in. With growing interest in shared spaces, could this be the future of not just office space but retail as well. It’s clear that the flexibility is attractive for both parties.

With places like Chef’s Assembly in Toronto’s financial district taking off and Stackt becoming the next big retail spot, we can’t help but ask ourselves what’s next? Work, retail and restaurants are all coworking, it’s only a matter of time until everyone else is.
