What's Happening in The Haus?

The holiday is upon us, and tis’ the season to be thankful.

Thanksgiving is about family and remembering what it is that you’re thankful for. Some of the Workhaus family got together to discuss how we’re spreading the Thanksgiving cheer this year, and just what we’re thankful for, whether it be in our personal or our professional life.

District Manager

workhaus-thanksgiving-2019-JustineBeing from a small village. I was fortunate enough to experience the value of community from early on. Being in a workspace that has me surrounded & constantly inspired by hard working and intelligent members is incredible. But to be in a coworking space that prioritizes & creates community, has been something I couldn’t have even imagined to be apart of my professional life.

I am grateful to be surrounded in my personal and professional life by such high quality people who are constantly challenging me to do & be better and support me when things don’t always go as planned. While somehow always reinstalling the importance of living life with the highest regard for those who offer support and guidance.

I’m very thankful and lucky being.

How are you planning on spending Thanksgiving weekend?

Heading home to little Chesterville to recharge & cause a little trouble with my friends & family

(what else are you supposed to do on Thanksgiving weekend?!)

Ellie Godfrey
Community Manager

workhaus-thanksgiving-2019-EllieBeing just 3 months in coworking at Workhaus, I am so thankful to have entered such a great community of like-minded people to connect and collaborate with. I have been able to create some really cool partnerships for the company and have met many amazing people along the way.

I am also extremely grateful for my incredible family and friends that have supported me throughout my life. I feel very blessed with all the opportunities and experiences that I’ve been able to accomplish thus far.

How are you planning on spending Thanksgiving weekend?

This thanksgiving, I will be heading up north to my cottage in good ol’ Muskoka for a big dinner party full of family and friends. Can’t wait for the colourful leaves and crisp fall air at the lake!

workhaus-thanksgiving-2019-chadIn work, I am thankful that I get to come into the “office” every day and learn something new, whether it’s members teaching me about their business or coworkers who have become good friends teaching me about their life. And Slack, I’m thankful for Slack.

In my life, I am thankful for my friends and family that make me a better person every day and let me be my truest self.

Adam Mawer
Director of Kitchener – Waterloo

workhaus-thanksgiving-2019-AdamWhat a tough question! I am most thankful for my girlfriend of nearly 3 years. She keeps me sane and doesn’t allow me to beat myself up since I’m my biggest enemy sometimes. In terms of coworking, I am most thankful for the amazing Kitchener-Waterloo community for embracing Workhaus and our first location in the area. I can’t wait to see what’s next!

How are you planning on spending Thanksgiving weekend?

My plans for Thanksgiving weekend are to enjoy some solid R&R and catch up on some TV! On Sunday, I will have a traditional Thanksgiving dinner at my girlfriend’s house complete with pirogies (she’s Polish and every big meal requires pirogies).

workhaus-thanksgiving-2019-StefI am very thankful to be part of such a dynamic and encouraging team.  Working at Workhaus has not only taught me a lot on a professional level, but has also allowed me to make meaningful connections and friendships that will last a lifetime.

I am also thankful to be spending time with my family this weekend.  I am very close to my parents and my three brothers, and as we get older, sometimes it’s difficult to find the time to get together as often as we would like.

How are you planning on spending Thanksgiving weekend?

This year, we will all be heading up to the cottage together to celebrate Thanksgiving!

Jasmine Roberts
Events Manager, Community Manager

workhaus-thanksgiving-2019-JasmineThe past year has been a whirlwind for me. But what I’m most thankful for are the people in my life. Those that have stood by me, and those that have grown with me in my professional and personal life.

There’s nothing I find more inspiring than coming to work and being surrounded by such amazing talent within our Workhaus community. I’ve worked a lot of places, but I’ve never felt more at home than I do here.

How are you planning on spending Thanksgiving weekend?

This year, I’ll be having a traditional Korean Thanksgiving with my boyfriend and his family as mine are spending some time travelling and seeing the world.

In case you’re wondering, they didn’t invite. So disrespectful, I know.

Samantha Rodrigues
Community Manager

workhaus-thanksgiving-2019-Sam I’m thankful for all of the amazingly supportive people in my life. I’m thankful for my cute little apartment that just kind of fell into my lap. I’m thankful for my mental and physical health. I’m also honestly really thankful for my smartphone; I genuinely do not know what I would do without it. Oh, and people who leave reviews online—I would like to thank them.

How are you planning on spending Thanksgiving weekend?

This year I’ll be spending thanksgiving in California with my boyfriend; very thankful for that as well. We’re starting out in Venice Beach and then driving along the Pacific Coast Highway up to San Francisco.

I think this is the first thanksgiving that I won’t be spending with my parents; I’ve also gotten the impression that my mom is not particularly upset about that. This year my mom is probably thankful that she will not have to cook turkey for her daughter.

From our Haus to yours, happy Thanksgiving! And let us know just what you’re thankful for this year!
