Some of us spent June enjoying street festivals, catching the summer’s first concerts and celebrating Pride, while others are still looking for the best way to kick off the summer. Either way, get ready for a month brimming with excitement, as Toronto goes all out with things to do. Toronto is home to all kinds of festivals and events, so all summer long there’s no shortage of things to do. Whether you’re interested in music, performance art, or fine cuisine, there’s something for everyone! Some highlights happening in July include the return of the Fringe Festival, taking place from July 3-14. Fringe is Ontario’s largest performance festival and showcases innovative and experimental theater performances across 16 venues in the city. Latvian Festival of Song and Dance is happening at Roy Thomson Hall on July 6th. The Festival of India takes place July 13th-14th and will feature events happening downtown and on Centre Island. Toronto’s Festival of Beer will take over Bandshell Park at the Exhibition Grounds from July 26th to 28th. For the food lovers, Ribfest hits Yonge-Dundas Square July 12th-14th. There’s a bunch of outdoor screenings events happening around the city through the summer, including Toronto Outdoor Picture Show from June 19th to August 25th, the next monthly event by College Park After Hours on July 3rd, Lavazza Inclucity Film Festival from June 27 to July 21, 2024, and Under the Stars at Regent Park July 10th, 17th, and 24th.
With some of the city’s best beaches and most iconic views, Toronto islands are always worth a visit. To get there quickly, you can buy your ticket for the Toronto Islands Ferry online and skip the lines, or catch a water taxi from the harborfront. For indoor swimming, Toronto has hundreds of public pools and splash pads. Finally, make the most of the summer sun by trying out a team sport like volleyball, pickleball, or dodgeball. There are many easy to join recreational leagues in the city, along with some courts where you can play for free. Ballsports on Polson Pier, Rendezviews in the heart of downtown, and the courts at Woodbine Beach to name a few!
